romance monday: we heart memorial day brides

Memorial Day was one for the bridal books. From an over publicized black tie wedding to Moroccan luxury serenade, fashion moguls from the likes of Poppy Delevigne to Kim and Kanye and Natalia Kills celebrated holy matrimony in ways that redefined luxe.

1. Poppy Delevingne

The second affair for the Brit beauty’s nuptials followed the intimate London wedding. The couple opted for a lavish Moroccan affair. Decked in a lacy Pucci peplum gown versus the Chanel showcase that happened a week beforehand, the bride defined bohemian elegance as she glowed of grace.  Sister Cara Delevigne reprised her role as maid of honor, donning a gorgeous lacy suit. The event was surrounded by high profile models such as family friends Arizona Muse, Suki Waterhouse, and Georgia May Jagger. The bridal attire for Poppy showcased an eccentric route for the leading role, proving that floral is always suitable. poppy-wedding-dress--z2. Natalia Kills

The unconventional event took place at the Jane Hotel rooftop in New York City, the couple were brought to together in matrimony by a captain. The happy couple was accompanied by a number of their family members and close friends including Obesity and Speed’s Lyz Olko.natalia kills wedding dress

romance wednesday: we heart Erica and Enrico’s garden wedding

what could be more beautiful than a garden wedding, bright with the sunshine and vibrant colors of summer? Erica and Enrico had just that for their July 2011 wedding. the lovely couple held their intimate ceremony in a beautiful church, where sunshine poured in and elegant old archways framed the exchange of vows.

a modern couple, the two went for a fresh, bright look. Enrico wore a regal purple jacket paired with a bright striped tie, a bold look  that he wore beautifully. Erica was a vision in a short, Grecian-inspired dress, with soft gathers and an asymmetrical neckline. opting for a short hem means, of course, that everyone gets to see the shoes! Erica pulled out all the stops and went for a dazzling pair of seafoam green satin heels, adorned with lavish crystal brooches at the toe. she decided to pull the green further into her look by designing a custom chapeau, adorned with feathers and a vintage crystal brooch, and a fabric rosette perfectly matched to her heels. a gorgeous hydrangea bouquet pulled in a bit more white and green, along with a hint of blue for subtle contrast (and her something blue, of course!). her look was elegant and stunning, and played perfectly against Enrico’s fresh, modern style. the couple’s cheerful energy and bright smiles matched perfectly to the elegant glamour of their big day.

romance thursday: we heart kris and scott’s sweet chicago wedding

you know when you just look at a couple and know that they are hopelessly in love? that was our first reaction when we saw the photos from Kris and Scott’s November 30, 2013 wedding. the lovely couple practically glowed as they embraced in the warmth of the intimate Sky Chapel at Chicago’s historical United Methodist Church in the heart of the city’s downtown. kris was oh-so-chic in her elegantly bejeweled A-line dress in soft layers of net, satin, and lace. scott was every bit the dashing and modern groom in his gray suit and striped necktie. the bride sported a fabulous fur jacket to keep the fall chill away, and her polished accessories included a custom Dreamy Rosette Headpiece that the bride customized with soft ostrich feathers for texture and whimsy.

the chic couple kept the wedding palette soft and neutral, with fabulous ivory lace-overlay dresses for the beautiful bridesmaids, and softly bright green and white bouquets. the cute couple held their reception at Chicago’s own cozily refined Osteria Via Stato, creating the perfect end to their romantic and beautiful day. kris_scott_wedding_chicago_headpiece_tullerosette_pearls_feathers

romance wednesday: we heart kelly clarkson’s farm wedding

our all-time favorite American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson wed her beau, Brandon Blackstock, on October 20 this year, in one of the loveliest intimate ceremonies we have seen for awhile. they held their nuptials at the gorgeous Blackberry Farm in Walland Tennessee, attended only by Brandon’s son and daughter. the intimate ceremony took place under the shelter of a covered wooden bridge in the picturesque woods of the resort, decorated simply in rustic string lights that haloed the couple.

kelly was stunning in a Temperley London lace gown featuring a dramatic front and back v-neck and sheer lace sleeves, edged in a gorgeous scallop. the silhouette of the gown was clean and soft, elegantly accenting kelly’s ladylike figure. the softly ruffled lace skirts were subtly beautiful, accented simply by the scallop of the gorgeous lace edge. her hair was our favorite part, a soft and perfectly messy updo that blended an undone, woodsy vibe with a chic and modern beauty. her asymmetrical side sweep perfectly framed her face, and she topped the look with a sparkly jeweled headband nestled into the ‘do. she was just stunning!

romance friday: we heart a romantic winter wedding

we love a winter wedding! refreshingly unexpected, a cold-weather wedding is a great opportunity to have fun with surprising silhouettes, layered textures, and of course the romance of dusky skies and softly glowing lights aplenty. grace and andrew did just that for their january wedding in the heart of downtown chicago. shades of whites, blues and silvers created the lineup of hues in the gorgeous ceremony and reception.

grace’s stunning gown featured a sweetheart neckline and dramatic ruffled skirts, and she kept away the cold with a gorgeous fur wrap. the piece de resistance was the gorgeous custom veil we designed with the bride, a cathedral length mantilla cut beauty trimmed in stunning lace; a delicate alencon scallop topped the piece, opening up into a wider lace at the hem, featuring a daintily detailed chantilly lace layered underneath a dramatic alencon edging.

the fabulous photographers from Life on Prints snapped the stunning photos from Grace and Andrew’s big day!

romance saturday: we heart the longest married couple

we love hearing romantic stories about long-lasting unions and everlasting love. it was so inspiring to see Ann and John Betar, who just celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary. the Connecticut couple were married on November 25, 1932. the two met when Ann was in high school and the two lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut. though she was arranged to be married to a different man, Ann and John eloped to New York together after realizing that they had found true love. “It is unconditional love and understanding” says Ann of their long-lasting marriage. so simple and beautiful!

Ann and John fall short of the Guinness World Record for longest marriage, of Zelmyra and Herbert Fisher, who had been married almost 87 years when Herbert died in 2011.

style spotlight: we heart our luxe satin and tulle flower

we love to layer texture, color, and detail to create beautiful works of art. our luxe satin and tulle flower is one of our favorite new styles that combines some of our favorite elements into one simple and elegant design. our inspiration came as we perused rows and rows of stunning ribbons in all the hues of the rainbow. we knew that we wanted to create something that let the eye-popping shine and rich color really stand out. to do this, we created a piece that is simple in design, layering the fabric with a stretch of our beloved bridal tulle, light and soft, with just a hint of color and texture to play against the ribbon and really let it stand out. softly gathering the layers, we carefully wind each piece into an elegant bloom. each one is a bit different in its beautiful form, paying homage to the handmade nature of each lovely piece. as we love to do, each piece is complete with the addition of a special centerpiece. for our custom bridal looks, we encourage our clients to find one of mom’s or grandma’s heirloom brooches or earrings, to bring “something old” into the special accessory. for our ready-to-wear pieces, we love to find the perfect vintage brooch, sparkly button, or special doodad to complete each work of art. we are creating our new favorite look in a variety of colors, sizes, and finishes for spring. swoon!
