inspiration friday: we heart Valentine’s Day!

our favorite day of the year is finally here! there’s no better way to kiss away the winter blues than with a sweets-filled day of romance and fun. maybe we are just hopeless romantics, but it really is such a happy day. wear your favorite something with hearts on it, eat some sweets, and watch your favorite rom-com with your honey or your besties… that’s what we will be doing! here’s our obsession list for today!!!

1. our favorite sweet for the day… Chicago’s own Sweet Mandy B’s cupcakes. any flavor, they’re all divine!

2. our favorite romance movie for the day… Dirty Dancing. Awesome music, the best over-the-top moments in 80s chick flicks, plus Patrick Swayze without a shirt on.

1012251_10151644769118557_50972627_n3. our fashion obsession for the day… Paul Andrew’s Amazon heel in leathery, feathery goodness. we would be okay if these showed up our doorstep this afternoon…

4. our favorite romantic song for the day… Friday I’m in Love by The Cure. it’s exactly how we picture romance- crazy, fun, head over heels happiness. just listen to the words, watch the video, and try not to smile. we dare you.

5. our favorite creation, made especially for our favorite day… a one-of-a-kind black and white chapeau with a vintage bakelite heart, a swarovski crystal button, and lots more pretty details. someone lucky gets to wear this out on the town tonight!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

color theory: we heart raspberry red

the fruit is simply delicious, but the color might even better. like it’s namesake fruit, the raspberry hue is rich, bright, and delectable. a warm hue that often walks the line between red and pink, raspberry is the perfect jewel tone that always stands out in a crowd. festive for the holidays, we love it paired with basic blacks and grays; it also looks completely fierce with metallics silvers and golds. dress it up or dress it down, it always looks great!

joe’s jeans makes amazing classics that always look and feel great- we are loving the new prints and colors they are adding, including the one and only raspberry!

Erin Gallagher’s Anna ring makes us wish our birthdays were in July for an excuse to wear the ruby stone on 14k yellow gold. on second thought, we don’t need an excuse…

H&M’s cute cropped blazer is perfect for fall, winter, and even spring layering. the raspberry hued gem is easily our favorite- can’t you just imagine it with the perfect pair of dark blue skinnies and black boots??

we are still swooning over Kyra Sedgwick’s gorgeous jewel toned Monique Lhuillier beauty that she wore to the 2010 Emmy’s.

Michelle Dockery channeled her inner-1950’s-era goddess with this dramatic red color blocked look from Prada at this year’s Emmy’s.

Gucci’s dramatic leather waist belt is the perfect topper to spice up the LBD for all the holiday parties this year!

Let’s talk about how perfectly necessary Henri Bendel’s Sutton messenger bag is to our current wardrobe…

Laura Mercier makes the loveliest richly hued lip colors, and Raspberry Sorbet is yet another hit, a shade that will look great on all of us!

romance saturday: we heart gwen and gavin

out of the limelight but still cool as ever, we are still obsessed with rocker chic couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. we have been watching them for years, and love watching not only their sweetly romantic interactions, but also their awesome style evolution. gwen has always been the style maven, of course; from her red lips to her retro glam bleached blonde hair, she has always inspired us. in the 90s, as front-woman for No Doubt, she made Adidas track pants and crop tops chic; over the years she began introducing more femininity, while still keeping a sexy edge. plaids and florals, leather and bows; the girl has done it all, even wowing us in glamorous gowns that lent a princess vibe, but still managed to scream badass cool. all the while, Gavin has been at her side; as front-man of Bush, with his funky, highlighted waves and leather pants, and later on, in elegant suits on the red carpet, and still keeping his rocker vibe with a cool ponytail and cool tees and jackets.
