romance wednesday: we heart Erica and Enrico’s garden wedding

what could be more beautiful than a garden wedding, bright with the sunshine and vibrant colors of summer? Erica and Enrico had just that for their July 2011 wedding. the lovely couple held their intimate ceremony in a beautiful church, where sunshine poured in and elegant old archways framed the exchange of vows.

a modern couple, the two went for a fresh, bright look. Enrico wore a regal purple jacket paired with a bright striped tie, a bold look  that he wore beautifully. Erica was a vision in a short, Grecian-inspired dress, with soft gathers and an asymmetrical neckline. opting for a short hem means, of course, that everyone gets to see the shoes! Erica pulled out all the stops and went for a dazzling pair of seafoam green satin heels, adorned with lavish crystal brooches at the toe. she decided to pull the green further into her look by designing a custom chapeau, adorned with feathers and a vintage crystal brooch, and a fabric rosette perfectly matched to her heels. a gorgeous hydrangea bouquet pulled in a bit more white and green, along with a hint of blue for subtle contrast (and her something blue, of course!). her look was elegant and stunning, and played perfectly against Enrico’s fresh, modern style. the couple’s cheerful energy and bright smiles matched perfectly to the elegant glamour of their big day.

Fabulous Chicago photographer Tuan H Bui beautifully captured the bright colors and elegant moments of the couple’s wedding day!

style spotlight: we heart peacock feathers

the regal peacock has fascinated and inspired us for years. we are in awe of it’s amazing display of vibrantly hued plumes, extending in a dramatic fan from it’s petite and poised body. the rainbow of blues and greens is truly breathtaking; it is almost hard to believe that it is a natural creature, and not a fantastical image conjured in a dream. did you know there are white peacocks, as well? they are equally as stunning, with the same spectacular display, but in brilliantly shimmering white.

we are always seeing the beautiful peacock’s form in fashion, and it’s always swoon worthy. we just can’t get enough of these gorgeous creatures! who wouldn’t love a bit of peacock fabulousness in their home? 222 Fifth makes these beautifully intricate porcelain Lakshmi Peacock plates that we would love to put on our dining room table. we are especially loving the oversized peacocks that take cocktail attire from the LBD to a whole new level. check out the gorgeous Perfect Poise Peacock Dress from ModCloth– we’re totally obsessed! and this stunning vintage-inspired Peacock Statement Necklace from C Wonder, one of our favorite new online shopping destinations, is the perfect mix of color, metal, texture, and sparkle, perfect for the holidays.

we love making peacock-adorned magic! some of the fabulous pieces we have created… one of our favorite new bridal sets, a boutonnière for him and a fancy headpiece for her, all in shimmering natural peacock feathers and adorned with shimmering vintage inspired buttons. we worked with a bride to create these fabulous peacock feather, marabou plumage, and swarovski crystal  brooches for the bridesmaids party. lucky girls! this is one of our favorite fall pieces, a gorgeous fan of ivory peacock plumes, anchored with shimmering ivory pearls.

style spotlight: the feather flower

introducing one of our favorite styles… our feather flower headpiece. each piece is a breathtaking marriage of classic elegance and modern glamour.

throughout history, our beloved icons of fashion and glamour have sported feathers and flowers in their coiffures, epitomizing beauty and femininity, and inspiring women everywhere. we all love a good accessory, and what better than soft blooms or regal feathers atop your crown to create an unforgettable look that makes heads turn

singer billie holiday was not only a stunning talent but a stunning vision in the bloom she often sported atop her head (

we create our flowers with gorgeous feathers, a bit of sparkle and shine, and lots of love. each piece is hand crafted, ensuring that no two are ever exactly alike. we love customizing this piece, playing with size, texture, and color. one of our favorite ways is to incorporate custom wedding day colors and vintage heirloom brooches to create truly spectacular pieces.

we heart awesome girl rockers

that’s a general rule for me, actually. more specific and more recent, though: i was invited to a concert last sunday with a couple of friends to check out an “amazing” singer at the groovy Schuba’s Tavern here in Chi-town. amazing doesn’t begin to describe it. said singer goes by the name LindiIMG_20130219_233246 Ortega, and she is unbelievable! great energy, beautiful music, and a killer voice- think Johnny Cash-meets-Patsy Cline-with a-Dolly Parton twang. seriously.

the best part- the adorable Lindi loves to sport cutesy feathered headpieces and such (thanks to my friend for letting me know that before the show), and i brought a little something to give to her! got the chance to say hi as she headed off the stage at the end of the show, and gave her one of my fave little feathered headpieces.

here’s a pic of the piece. how fabulous would it be if we see her sporting it one of these days!?IMG_20130210_233231
