we have a feeling that we are not the only ones who watch the Golden Globes almost exclusively for the red carpet fashions. the entrance is a show in and of itself, each dress an exciting presentation of and actress’s individual style. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were fabulous as hosts once again (and amy was so sweet as she accepted her award for actress in a TV comedy), which of course made it that much more necessary to stick around for the entire show.
as for the clothes, we were thrilled to see lots of bright, bold jewel tones. actresses were simply glowing, and our favorites were the warm palettes: Maria Menounos was gorgeous in BCBG Max Azria, Melissa Rauch was bright and stunning in Romona Keveza, Lupita Nyong’o wowed us in uniquely modern Ralph Lauren, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus was so elegant in Narcisco Rodriguez.
the colors were not the only winners; classic black and white paired with chic silhouettes for timeless elegance. Megan Mullally looked every bit the sexy librarian in a chic column dress with surprising, yet fabulous, sleeves (we are still wondering who the designer is though…), Jennifer Lawrence pushed the envelope while staying gorgeous, in Christian Dior Couture, Amy Poehler was simply beautiful in Stella McCartney, and we were so excited to see Julia Roberts, who looked breathtaking in subdued Dolce and Gabbana.
our real favorites, though, were the surprising silhouettes, colors, and styles that were fearlessly rocked, and looked just gorgeous on these beautiful actresses. Sandra Bullock’s was amazing in her color blocked, high-low hem dress by Prabal Gurung (apparently critics are calling it a flop, but it is easily our favorite of the night!), Paula Patton was perfectly poised in her uniquely ruffled creation in soft ivory by Stephanie Rolland, Kate Beckinsale was every bit a gorgeous, glittering mermaid in Zuhair Murad, and Tina Fey turned every head in a beautifully printed Carolina Herrera dress with unique 1950s-inspired skirts.
we can easily say that this show did not dissappoint in the fashion department. there wasn’t a single flop, and stars were not afraid to take risks, push the envelope, and have fun. and they all looked just stunning while doing so!
